Doggie's Details -9/20/17:
Hello friends! We would like to introduce ourselves — we are Barney Boy and Thelma Lue. We are an adorable bonded pair of Chugs (Chihuahua pug mix) and we have quite a story to tell you.
Our story begins a few months ago (we don’t really remember much about what our life was like before that) when a nice lady noticed us all by ourselves in a parking lot. Summertime in Florida is really hot and it’s not a great place for two little chugs to be outside living alone. When she found us she noticed that our fur was in terrible shape. It seems that for some reason someone shaved off our fur coats and left us with burn marks on our bodies. On top that that we had lots and lots of fleas, so we were miserable.
She took us home and got us all cleaned up and even took us to the vet to get some medical care. She searched and searched for our owners but no one ever claimed us. Because she does a lot of work with dogs she helped us to feel safe and secure and she even taught us a few doggie manners to help us learn how to meet other dogs. We realize that because of what we’ve been through we are close to each other, and we really like the company of people, but we would be best living a house without other dogs or cats so we can get all of the attention!
When it was time to help us find a wonderful forever family she contacted the nice folks at Pug Rescue of Florida because they understand little chugs like us.
Here are a few things that we are looking for in a forever home:

We are a bonded pair so we really must be adopted together. We sleep together, eat together, and take walks together. We can get along with other bigger dogs OK, but we aren’t really fans of small dogs or cats so we would prefer to be the only dogs in our new home.

We LOVE to run and play so we must have a fenced yard and a family that promises to take us on walks — 2 walks a day is what we like the best.

After we get our exercise we love to shower our foster mom with lots of love and attention. Barney enjoys cuddling on the sofa and Thelma thinks tummy rubs and kisses are the best!

We are really smart and learn things quick, but because we have been through so much we need a family that will be patient and consistent with our training.
Because of the great care we have received we are happy to say that we are spayed/neutered and are up to date on all of our vaccines. Thanks to soothing baths and a quality diet our skin and coats are in much better shape. Our fleas are all gone too and we are on a regular schedule of flea, tick, and heartworm medications. As you can see by the photo Barney has a bit of an underbite and unfortunately some of those teeth are not in great condition. He is going to go to the vet for a dental cleaning very soon — he may end up losing a couple of those teeth, but after it is all done he will feel much better!
Barney is about 7 yrs old and weighs 15 pounds and Thelma is about 3 years old and weighs 12 pounds. Pug Rescue of Florida is taking care of these adorable guys.
